France's state-run postal service, La Poste, has offices (bureaux de poste) in every urban neighbourhood and most rural villages.
Opening hours in larger cities are from 08:00 to 19:00 Monday to Friday, and 08:00 to 12:00 on Saturdays. Stamps are also sold at tobacconists, hotels and vending machines.
In addition to regular postal services, La Poste also offers registered (recommandé) and same-day deliveries, as do all the major international courier services.
If you are moving, La Poste offers a forwarding service (réexpédition de courier) for either 6 or 12 months within France or to an international address.
